Lord Justice John Laws

Sir John Grant McKenzie Laws (born 10 May 1945), The Rt Hon. Lord Justice Laws, is a former Lord Justice of Appeal. He served from 1999 to 2016. He is the current Goodhart Visiting Professor of Legal Science at the University of Cambridge, and an Honorary Fellow of Robinson College, Cambridge.

Sabino Cassese

Justice Emeritus of the Italian Constitutional Court and Emeritus professor at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa. He teaches at the Luiss University - School of Government, Rome. Justice Cassese graduated summa cum laude in law from the University of Pisa in October 1956. He was assistant professor at the Universities of Pisa and Rome and, since 1961, has served as professor at the Universities of Urbino, Naples, and Rome. In 1993-94 he was a member of the Italian Government and from 2005 to 2014 Justice at the Italian Constitutional Court. Sabino Cassese has received a doctor honoris causa degree from eight universities: Aix-en-Provence (1987), Cordoba (1995), Paris II (1998), Castilla-La Mancha (2002), Athens (2002), Macerata (2002), European University Institut (2010) and Roma La Sapienza (2016).

Paul Craig

Paul Craig Roberts has had careers in scholarship and academia, journalism, public service, and business. He is chairman of The Institute for Political Economy.

Dr. Roberts has held academic appointments at Virginia Tech, Tulane University, University of New Mexico, Stanford University where he was Senior Research Fellow in the Hoover Institution, George Mason University where he had a joint appointment as professor of economics and professor of business administration, and Georgetown University where he held the William E. Simon Chair in Political Economy in the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

He has contributed chapters to numerous books and has published many articles in journals of scholarship, including the Journal of Political Economy, Oxford Economic Papers, Journal of Law and Economics, Studies in Banking and Finance, Journal of Monetary Economics, Public Choice, Classica et Mediaevalia, Ethics, Slavic Review, Soviet Studies, Cardoza Law Review, Rivista de Political Economica, and Zeitschrift fur Wirtschafspolitik. Jean Bernard Auby

Jean-Bernard Auby passed the agrégation (The agrégation is a highly-competitive national teaching examination) in public law and holds a doctorate in law. Since 2006, he has directed the Center on Changes in Governance and Public Law at Sciences Po.

Prof. Auby has been a professor at Sciences Po since 2006. He previously served as Dean of the Law School, University of Paris XII (1989-1993) and professor of public law at the University of Paris II-Assas (1994-2006). He also served as Deputy Director of the Institute of European and Comparative Law at Oxford University (1998-2000) and was a visiting professor at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona (2006), the University of Rome-La Sapienza (2007), the University of Pennsylvania (2009), the European Academy of Public Law (Athens, 2009) the Bocconi University in Milan (2009), the Tsinghua University in Beijing (2010), the University of Tunis (2011), the University of Oslo (2012), the University of Bologne (2013), the University of Trento (2013) the l’Université of Rome 2-Tor Vergata (2013).

Prof. Auby is honorary president of the French Local Government Law Association (Association Française de Droit des Collectivités Locales), director of the Juris-Classeur Administratif (an encyclopedia of French administrative law published by Editions Lexis Nexis), director of the administrative law publication, Droit Administratif (Editions Lexis Nexis), and editor of the collection, Droit Administratif/Administrative Law (Editions Bruylant). He is a member of the editorial board of Global Law Press/ Editorial Derecho Global and of several publications, including the Revue française de droit administratif, Review of European Administrative Law, Revue européenne de droit public, European Public Law and the International and Comparative Law Quarterly The Italian Journal of Public Law, Rivista Italiana per le Scienze Giuridiche, International Journal of Public Sector Management, Rivista Trimestrale di Diritto Pubblico.

Ana Maria Guerra Martins

Ana Maria Guerra Martins is currently Associated Professor with Aggregation at the University of Lisbon – School of Law, teaching and researching mainly in EU Law, Fundamental Rights, International and European Human Rights Law, Constitutional Justice and International Law.  

She was Invited Professor at the University Eduardo Mondlane in Maputo (2004/2005) and at the Jean Monnet Faculty of the University of South Paris 11 (2004/2005) and Invited Researcher at the Max-Planck-Institute for Comparative and International Law in Heidelberg (1997-1999).

She is a member of many scientific organizations and networks - the Lisbon Centre for Research in Public Law – School of Law of the Lisbon University, the European Public Law Organization (Athens), the European Constitutional Law Network (Berlin), the European Network of Legal Experts in Gender Equality and Non-Discrimination (European Union Commission).

She is also the Portuguese Rapporteur within two Horizonte 2020 projects – Member States’ Constitutions and EU Integration, led by the University of Salzburg and the European Community Studies Association and Member States’ Preferences for Economic and Fiscal Integration, led by the University of Salzburg.

She served as Justice at the Portuguese Constitutional Court (2007-2016) and as General Inspectorate of Justice (2006-2007).

Martin Nettesheim

Martin Nettesheim is currently a professor of law at the University of Tuebingen Law School in Germany. He serves as head of the Tuebingen University Center for International Economic Law. Previously he has taught at Free University in Berlin and at Potsdam University Law School. He is Member of the Board of the European Law Institute, Co-Chair of the Gesellschaft für Rechtspolitik (GfR) and served as Secretary General of the Societas Iuris Publici Europaei (SIPE). He served as Dean of Tuebingen University Law School.

Nettesheim is a specialist on European Union Law and International Economic Law. He is editor general of a multi-volume commentary on the Treaty Law of the European Union (Grabitz/Hilf/Nettesheim, Das Recht der Europäischen Union, 3 volumes, 2015) and author of a handbook on the law of the European Union, which will be published in its 7th edition in winter 2015 (Oppermann/Classen/Nettesheim, Euroaprecht, 6th ed. 2014).

Nettesheim has been invited to teach at various universities, such as Berkeley, Nanjing and St. University (Miami). He has repeatedly represented German governmental institutions, such as the Bundestag (German Federal Parliament) and the Government of the State of Baden-Württemberg, in proceedings at the Bundesverfassungsgericht (German Federal Constitutional Court). He has also represented cases at the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights. He has also served as an advisor to the European Commission and the European Parliament. Currently, he is working on the new EU rules on banking resolution, specifically on the interaction of fundamental rights and restructuring measures.

David Feldman

David Feldman is the Rouse Ball Professor of English Law in the University of Cambridge, and a Fellow of Downing College, Cambridge. He previously taught in the Universities of Bristol and Birmingham and at the Australian National University, was the first Legal Adviser to the UK's parliamentary Joint Select Committee on Human Rights (2001-04), and a Judge of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (2002-10). His teaching and research are mainly in the field of public law. He is a Fellow of the British Academy, and Queen's Counsel honoris causa.

Spyridon Flogaitis

Spyridon Flogaitis is the Director of the EPLO and President of its Board of Directors. 

He is Professor of Administrative Law at the Law School of the University of Athens, Attorney at Law at the High Court and the Council of State of Greece, former President of the United Nations Administrative Tribunal and former Caretaker Alternate Minister for Foreign Affairs (2015) and Caretaker Minister of Interior, Greece (in 2007 and 2009). He is also a Visiting Fellow at Wolfson College in the University of Cambridge and a Doctor Honoris Causa at the NSPSPA in Bucharest, Romania and the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon in Portugal.

He was born in Lefkas (Greece) and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Athens with a degree in Law. He holds a PhD in Law from the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas and a PhD in History from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.

He speaks fluently English, French, German, Italian and Greek and he is the author of many publications in the area of public law.

He was awarded with the distinction of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur of the French Republic and the distinction of Cavaliere dell’Ordine di Merito of the Italian Republic.

Georgios Gerapetritis

George Gerapetritis is a lawyer and Associate Professor of Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Athens. He is a graduate of the Athens University Law School and holds an LL.M. from the University of Edinburgh in the fields of public law and philosophy of law and a doctorate in European public law from the University of Oxford. He has been a fellow of the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (ΙΚΥ), the British Council, the French Council of State and the U.S. German Marshall Fund.

He has conducted and participated in more than 50 research programs of national, European and international character, has addressed more than 100 seminars and conferences in Greece, Europe and America and has published 5 books and more than 100 articles and contributions in Greek and international journals in three languages. He has been legal counsel to the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of the Interior, Public Administration and Decentralization and the Ministry of Education and Religion.

He is practicing law before the Hellenic Council of State, the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights.
